Applied Sciences for Life – In this spirit, Weihenstephan-Triesdorf University of Applied Sciences offers a unique range of programs covering all aspects of life. HSWT’s researchers and faculty members teach and conduct research at three locations (Freising, Triesdorf, Straubing) on socially significant issues such as sustainable land use, climate change, biodiversity, food technology, biotechnology, and renewable energy.
Our Triesdorf campus is located approximately 60 km southwest of Nuremberg. Through cooperation with institutions for agriculture, energy, nutrition, food, and the environment at the “Triesdorf Education Center,” valuable synergies are created for applied higher education and research.
The Faculty of Agriculture, Food, and Nutrition at the Triesdorf Campus expects to fill the above-mentioned professorship in the winter semester of 2027/2028 or later.
Teaching and Research Focus
The professorship combines scientific expertise with a deep understanding of taste and sensory analysis. The focus is on teaching—in both bachelor’s and master’s programs—and research in:
- Foodservice management, kitchen equipment technology, and innovative systems for food production and distribution
- Economic and organizational aspects, as well as sensory quality, appetizing presentation, and concepts that enhance enjoyment in institutional food service
- Sustainability and regional food service concepts for various target groups in institutional food service, educational, and healthcare facilities
- Catering, care catering, menu planning, and commercial kitchen technology
- Logistics, automation, networked systems, and quality management
Active involvement in applied research, supervision of internships, projects, and theses, as well as participation in university self-governance are required. Teaching related course content is encouraged. We offer an interesting field of work at the intersection of applied research and practice-oriented teaching, with the opportunity to independently advance the field.
Your Profile
We are looking for a team-oriented and open-minded individual who enjoys teaching and working with young people and who possesses the following qualifications:
- a completed university degree in ecotrophology, nutritional sciences, or a related field
- Proven expertise in foodservice management, food production, and the necessary kitchen technology
- Publications in renowned journals in the field of institutional food service
- Experience in academic teaching and advising students
- Ability to collaborate across disciplines
Employment Requirements
- Completed university degree
- pedagogical aptitude
- demonstrated aptitude for scholarly work, evidenced by the quality of a doctoral dissertation or by other documentation (an expert assessment confirming achievements equivalent to a doctoral dissertation)
- in addition, outstanding achievements in the application or development of scientific findings and methods during at least five years of professional experience following completion of the university degree; of these five years of professional experience, you must have worked for at least three years outside the higher education sector; In special cases, professional experience outside the higher education sector also includes situations where, for at least five years, a significant portion of your professional practice was carried out in cooperation between a university and a non-university professional setting
