The Fairtrade Germany team is looking for reinforcement!
(Senior) Key Account Manager (f/m/d)

At Fairtrade Germany, we shape the future – fairly, in partnership, sustainably. For over 30 years, we have been working worldwide through our initiatives to promote responsible business practices, a living income for farming families and better treatment of workers. Our work is based on social justice, respecting people’s rights and protecting the environment. Sales of Fairtrade products amounted to around 3.1 billion euros in 2025 – an increase of almost 9 percent. Consumers were able to choose from over 8,700 Fairtrade-labeled products in stores.
We are looking for a (Senior) Key Account Manager (f/m/d) in Cologne who shares our values and wants to expand our sales business – with a focus on coffee / (hot) drinks. The position is to be filled immediately on a full-time or part-time basis (at least 75%).
Your new challenge:
- Key Account Management: You will support our strategically important partners from the food industry and convince them to convert products to Fairtrade, jointly implement marketing campaigns or invest in their own supply chain (e.g. as part of projects). You also acquire new partners and thus contribute to a sustainable increase in sales.
- Product focus: Your product focus is coffee/(hot) drinks in the area of branded goods manufacturers, other product categories can be added if necessary.
- Marketing activities: You accompany your customers in implementing the marketing measures planned for them and also promote the use of the Fairtrade seal in their own marketing measures.
- Advice on certification and licensing: You are the first point of contact for our license partners in all matters relating to Fairtrade certification, supply chains and regulatory requirements – in close coordination with our internal experts.
- Representation and networking: You represent Fairtrade Germany at trade fairs, congresses and, if necessary, international meetings, promote exchange and networking with (potential) license partners, associations and other Fairtrade organizations
Contribute your strengths:
- You are enthusiastic about sales: you are a confident negotiator, can convince people and sell complex offers with perseverance and enthusiasm. You are characterized by your open manner and your enjoyment of contact with customers.
- Experience and appearance: You have at least 2-3 years of professional experience, e.g. in sales, key account management, business development, purchasing or consulting – ideally in the food/FMCG environment. You are professional and self-confident when dealing with customers.
- Teamwork and working style: You are communicative and work independently with a lot of initiative, flexibility and a strong service and solution orientation. You also enjoy working in a dynamic team and can keep track of several tasks at the same time.
- Motivation and willingness to learn: You identify with the values of Fairtrade and want to make a difference with your work. You are curious, eager to learn and approach new tasks with a high level of commitment and enthusiasm.
- Language and IT skills: You have a very good command of English and are confident in using common MS Office applications.
- Willingness to travel: You are willing to travel regularly to license partners, trade fairs and congresses and to represent Fairtrade Germany on site (approx. 20-30% of the time).
What we can convince you of:
- Meaningful work with impact: With us, you can make a difference in the world and create added value for society through your work and expertise.
- Clear processes and structures: With us, you can rely on transparent and efficient workflows that allow you to focus on the essentials and realize your full potential.
- Appreciative working atmosphere: We place great value on respect, openness, care and recognition. A positive working atmosphere and culture, clear and open communication at eye level and fair cohesion among colleagues are a matter of course for us.
- Leadership that inspires: Coaching and servant leadership are at the heart of our culture. Our managers are more than just supervisors – they are mentors who not only guide and support the growth of our employees in a competent, empathetic and appreciative manner.
- Work-life balance: We care about both our work, which we do with conviction, and our private lives. That’s why we cultivate a work-life balance culture in which flexible working hours and hybrid working models are not foreign concepts. We also offer 29 days of vacation per year.
What else is important:
Diversity is very important to us, which is why we welcome all applications – regardless of gender, nationality, ethnic and social background, religion and ideology, physical disability, age and sexual orientation.
We do not require a photo of applicants to ensure a fair and diverse selection process.
We initially limit all new employment relationships to two years. If there is mutual interest in continued employment, the contract will be terminated after the two years.
We look forward to receiving your detailed application, stating your earliest possible starting date and your salary expectations.
