Your future area of responsibility:
- Assortment management: responsibility for assortment design, maintenance and optimization in all relevant categories, ensuring a customer-oriented, economical and store-suitable assortment, evaluation of sales and potential analyses to derive assortment decisions as well as introduction of new products including profitability analyses and test phases
- Price and margin management: development and ongoing optimization of the price strategy for the basic range, determination of promotional prices in coordination with sales, purchasing and controlling, analysis of price elasticities, contribution margins and sales effects as well as ensuring a strong price-performance positioning in the market environment
- Competition analysis: Continuous monitoring of the competition (product range, prices, promotions, trends), preparation of regular competition reports with recommendations for action and derivation of strategic measures to differentiate and improve the market position
- Marketing & Promotion Management: Conception, planning and evaluation of weekly special offers (promotions), analysis of sales exploitation and sales potential of promotions, management of advertising materials in close coordination with marketing, sales and purchasing as well as ensuring a target group-specific and profitable promotion policy
- Purchasing merchandise: responsibility for the operational and strategic purchasing of all merchandise, supplier evaluation and development, contract and condition negotiations and the establishment of long-term partnerships to ensure quality, delivery reliability and conditions
- Utilization of raw material market opportunities (meat): Monitoring commodity markets, in particular meat prices and availability, deriving purchasing and marketing opportunities (e.g. cuts, price windows, special batches) and working with production, QA and sales to achieve the best possible utilization
- Responsibility for results: ensuring sales, frequency and profit targets for the categories managed, proactively deriving and implementing measures to improve results and working closely with controlling, sales and management
What you bring with you:
- Completed studies (business administration, retail management, food management or similar) or comparable commercial qualification
- Several years of professional experience in category management, ideally in the meat or fresh produce sector of a chain food company
- Experience in purchasing merchandise and negotiating with suppliers
- Sound knowledge of meat and sausage products, convenience and gastro products,
- Good knowledge of pricing and product range mechanics in food retail/specialized meat retail, meat commodity markets, marketing and promotional business
- Strong analytical skills (price/sales analyses, contribution margins, determination of potential)
- Strong entrepreneurial thinking with a focus on results as well as decisiveness, a sense of responsibility and a hands-on mentality
- High market and customer orientation, strong communication skills and a confident manner towards internal and external partners
- Structured, independent and proactive way of working
- Ability to translate complex data into clear recommendations for action
