Plant and Process Safety Specialist*

Your Responsibilities
- Independently establish and further develop an effective management system for plant and process safety at the site, taking into account the requirements of the Major Accidents Ordinance and other relevant regulations
- Conducting a comprehensive inventory of safety-relevant facilities and processes, as well as assessing potential risks to prioritize and derive appropriate measures
- Conducting and facilitating HAZOP analyses for systematic hazard identification and risk assessment
- Developing, updating, and technically evaluating safety concepts, particularly in the areas of fire and explosion protection
- Preparation, maintenance, and regular review of legally compliant facility-specific safety documentation, testing concepts, and explosion protection documents
- Deriving, prioritizing, and tracking technical and organizational protective measures in close collaboration with the departments responsible for implementation
- Planning, coordinating, and overseeing tests, inspections, and audits, as well as new construction, modification, and maintenance projects
- Analysis of facility- and process-related malfunctions, deviations, and safety-related incidents, as well as tracking of effective corrective actions
- Advising and raising awareness among technical departments regarding plant and process risks, fire and explosion protection, and technical emergency response procedures
- Collaborating with plant management, production, maintenance, engineering, regulatory authorities, and external experts
Your Profile
- Completed technical training with further education leading to a master craftsman*/technician* certification, or a completed technical degree, e.g., in safety engineering, process engineering, chemical engineering, or mechanical engineering, supplemented in each case by further training (e.g., instrumentation and control technology) or relevant professional experience in plant and process safety or comparable fields
- Several years of professional experience in plant or process safety, ideally in a manufacturing or process engineering environment or at a facility handling hazardous incidents
- In-depth knowledge of fire and explosion protection, as well as the preparation and evaluation of explosion protection documentation
- Good knowledge of relevant regulations, in particular the Major Accident Ordinance (Störfallverordnung), the Industrial Safety Ordinance (BetrSichV), the Hazardous Substances Ordinance (GefStoffV), and ATEX
- In-depth practical experience in conducting or facilitating HAZOP analyses
- Experience in conducting risk analyses and technical safety assessments
- A structured, independent work style, as well as assertiveness and strong communication skills
- Very good written and spoken German (at least C1) and good English skills (at least B2)
