Our client is a successful, mid-sized trading company in the food industry with a long-standing market presence and international supplier and customer relationships. To strengthen the team, we are seeking an entrepreneurial-minded individual who wants to combine purchasing, trading, and business development. Do you monitor markets, negotiate with international suppliers, and identify business opportunities early on? If so, a versatile position awaits you, offering plenty of creative freedom and direct collaboration with senior management.
Responsibilities:
- Strategic and operational procurement of food raw materials on international sourcing markets
- Monitoring market, price, and raw material trends and developing appropriate purchasing strategies
- Conducting negotiations on prices, contracts, and terms
- Establishing and developing international supplier relationships
- Identifying new sourcing channels and market opportunities
- Actively marketing the product groups under my responsibility to customers and business partners
- Expanding existing business relationships and developing new sales opportunities
- Participation in international trade shows, conferences, and supplier visits
Profile:
- Successfully completed commercial apprenticeship or degree in business administration
- Several years of experience in international purchasing, raw materials trading, import operations, or commodity trading
- Knowledge of food raw materials, e.g., fruit products, frozen/canned goods, dried fruits, nuts, kernels, seeds, grains/flakes, or comparable raw materials for the baking, confectionery, and food industries
- Experience in negotiations with international suppliers
- Strong numerical aptitude and analytical skills
- Business-level proficiency in English
- Strong communication skills, initiative, and an entrepreneurial mindset
- Willingness to travel domestically and internationally
A position of responsibility with significant autonomy, direct collaboration with senior management, and the opportunity to actively integrate procurement, trading, and business development. You can expect an attractive compensation package, including variable components, as well as a company car for personal use. Your place of residence is generally flexible; what’s important is your willingness to be present at the company’s location in North Rhine-Westphalia on a regular basis—and, if necessary, several times a month, including overnight stays. Travel and lodging expenses will be covered by the company.
